A WALK THROUGH EXCALIBUR

6/15/2010

“You Rule!” at Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, where a myriad of entertainment, fine food and comfortable accommodations make for an inviting atmosphere within contemporary castle walls.

Accommodations

A modern room redesign provides a contemporary take on the resort’s classic castle theme. Offering 2,000 newly remodeled accommodations, each deluxe Widescreen Room features a 42-inch plasma television and welcoming comforts such as pillow-top mattresses and iPod-compatible clock radios. A soothing color palette of soft blues, creamy yellows and deep browns creates an inviting setting in which to relax. Redesigned Spa and one-bedroom Parlor Suites also offer a distinct modern décor as well as expansive whirlpool tubs built for two. Known for its proud tradition of friendly hospitality, Excalibur’s new accommodations provide an appealing ambience of comfort and convenience that truly make this castle feel like home.

Entertainment

Excalibur’s vast array of merriment options provides entertainment for all ages.

“Tournament of Kings” Dinner Show – The last true dinner show in Las Vegas, “Tournament of Kings” is a live production adapted from the tale of King Arthur. Performed in a 900-seat, theater-in-the-round-style arena, the show engages the audience through its tale of valor and treachery. Mighty horses and feats of skill, special effects and pyrotechnics further add to the unique appeal of the production. Throughout the performance, a hearty three-course meal is served in the spirit and tradition of the medieval period – sans utensils.

Thunder From Down Under – Eight bronzed, buff, Australian men dance their way into the heart of every sheila. Humor, music and lots of skin provide a fun, adults-only evening out.

“Louie Anderson: Larger Than Life” – Named “One of the 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time” by Comedy Central, Anderson brings his talent to Excalibur. Produced by SPI Entertainment, “Louie Anderson: Larger Than Life” features Anderson’s hilarious stories and edgy material created specifically for Las Vegas crowds.

“Defending the Caveman” – A hilarious, insightful play about the ways men and women relate. It offers side-splitting opinions on contemporary feminism, masculine sensitivity and the erogenous zone. The longest-running solo play in Broadway history, “Defending the Caveman” originally opened in San Francisco in 1991 and moved to Broadway in 1995.

Attractions

Fantasy Faire Midway – Fun and games for guests of all ages can be had at the Fantasy Faire Midway where a multitude of carnival-style and arcade games with a medieval flair abound. A variety of 4-D rides provide thrills for the adventurous. Guest can chase an elusive pickle in “SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D,” ride horseback in “Corkscrew Hill,” or enjoy other exciting adventures.

Dining

Dick’s Last Resort – This quintessential vacation hangout serves up massive cocktails and finger foods by the bucket with a heaping helping of sass on the side. Wacky-tacky décor, live music and feisty service create a raucous dining experience not soon forgotten. A mouth-watering menu includes Sloppy Beef Ribs, Messy Honey-Roasted Chicken and Juicy Crab Legs. Skip the utensils for finger-lickin’ fun.

The Steakhouse at Camelot – The tableside service at The Steakhouse at Camelot is choreographed and tailored to each party’s menu selections. For special gatherings, four private rooms are available, including the Chef’s Table, which features a large window into the display kitchen, enabling guests to watch as their meals are artfully prepared before their eyes.

Regale Ristorante – The comfortable, welcoming surroundings of Regale Italian Eatery inspire guests to relax and enjoy. The tantalizing aromas and Italian-countryside setting provide the perfect back-drop for the menu featuring specialties inspired by traditional favorites of northern and southern Italy. An impressive wine list complements Regale’s extensive menu.

RoundTable Buffet – Located on the Castle Walk, the buffet serves a variety of entrees, salads and desserts at moderate prices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Sherwood Forest Café – A cozy, traditional coffee shop on the casino level offering a variety of menu selections, Sherwood Forest Café was awarded AOL CityGuide’s Best Family Friendly Restaurant for its serving of hearty and healthy foods for families on the go.

Castle Walk Food Court – For quick bites, a variety of fast food favorites are conveniently located on the Castle Walk: McDonald’s, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Starbuck’s Coffee, Cold Stone Creamery, Pizza Hut Express, Manchu WOK and Quiznos Subs.

Shadow Creek

Located in the midst of the barren Nevada desert on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Shadow Creek has achieved national recognition and the kind of startling mystique reserved for only a select number of golf courses. The course, perennially ranked among Golf Digest’s top 10 courses in the country, is known for its natural beauty, rolling terrain, glistening brooks and ponds, lush gardens and mature trees. The visual elements, spectacular waterfalls and course design lend to astonishing views.

Shadow Creek re-opened in December 2008 following a seven-month enhancement project overseen by original course architect Tom Fazio. The course’s tees and greens were rebuilt and reseeded, the irrigation system was upgraded and a new world-class short-game area was created, intended to reflect the diverse and intriguing shot values evident throughout the course.
